Number One Volunteer Fire Department


The Number One Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection services to the citizens of Sumner County, Tennessee.  Located in the Cages Bend community at 1314 Douglas Bend Road, the Department’s primary service area is that of Sumner County between the Cities of Hendersonville and Gallatin, including Douglas Bend Road, Cages Bend Road, Lower Station Camp Creek Road and the areas of Sumner County around St. Blaise and Harris Lane.


The Department responds to calls for  fire suppression, traffic accidents, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, gas leaks and any other emergency where the safety of a citizen or property are endangered.  The Department also provides reciprocal mutual aid services to the other Fire Departments within Sumner County, both paid and volunteer.   The Department first responds to all calls for Emergency Medical Services in the service area along with Sumner County EMS.  The Number One Fire Department is the ONLY fire department in Sumner County that provides Advance Life Support response to medical emergencies.  The Department has over thirty dedicated volunteers that includes Critical Care Paramedics, Paramedics, EMT’s and First Responders.  The Department is all volunteer and no one in the department is paid.  It is only through the generous support of our citizens that this department is able to give back to our community through our service.
